Happy Birthday Elder Carlson!

I was asked just the other day if I thought I was a strict Father. I answered YES, that I thought I was. I do expect my kids to act more grown up than their friends who may or may not meet our familys expectations. As a result Kyle has always acted more grown up. I think he has thought he was an adult from about the time he turned 12 or 13. I think that he now realizes he is just becoming the man his Father in heaven is expecting him to become. We have seen great growth in Kyle since he has been out in the mission field. As his parents we couldn't be more proud!

We wish him the BEST and hope he has a wonderful birthday!

I can't believe my little Kyley Bo is twenty years old. How can that be possible? Is seems like a very short time since I was waking up Randy to tell him that I was in labor. When he was born, Randy took him from the doctor and was so excited and proud. We took him home to our humble little fifth wheeler where his bassinet barely fit. Good memories.

Kyle has always been a good brother to Cameron and Carissa. Carissa was born when he was a year old and he loved kissing his little bubba. He was always very gentle with her. He has always been a funny kid with a great sense of humor and always kept us entertained. I see from some of the pictures that he sent us from his mission that he still knows how to be a goof ball.

Kyle has always had a tender spot for all his younger cousins. I think that's why he was such a good babysitter. All the little kids in the ward were always flocking around Kyle. I know he misses seeing everyone, but is setting such a good example by serving the Lord.

We are so proud of Kyle and his choice to go on a mission. He is learning so much and I can see his testimony constantly growing. He seems to be putting his whole heart into serving and is making the most of his mission. I know that he will be successful in everything he puts his mind to.

It was so good to get to talk to him on Mother's Day. I can't believe one third of his mission has already flown by.

Kyle, we want you to know that you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. We hope you have a very happy birthday and enjoy the package we sent.

Holy cow I seriously cannot believe you are turning 20 (twenty)!!! hahaha Good thing I'm not a boy cuz I'd be leaving on a mission soon and mom definatly couldn't handle us both out at the same time. Kyle do you remember when you first started to learn to ride a bike, and if you crashed you probably shed some tears, you are over that now but sometimes it happens, and the green stain on the shirt is the sign of no tears, and a little scrubbing will take it out.

I was impressed with the letter that the lady sent to your folks, I am sure they are so proud of you, and the great missionary you are. A lot of that good training comes from goodly parents. I want you to know how proud I am of you. I was thinking in 2 or 3 months you will have been out a year, time goes fast when you are having fun and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Hey Elder Carlson - hope you're having a great birthday today. You'll have to post pics of whatever you end up doing today for your P-day/B-day (I'm sure it will be crazy!). Wow... Happy Birthday, Kyle!! It sure doesn't seem like twenty years since we got the call that our first grandchild had been born and had to rush in to Las Vegas to see you. Andre Accepted to West Point Summer Program

Andre was accepted to attend the Summer Leaders Seminar at West Point U.S. Military Academy in New York and will be attending the academy June 5-11. He is very excited to experience a taste of what it would be like to attend the Academy as his goal is to be accepted there.

Happy Birthday Terra!

Terra is so excited to be turning 6! She told Grandma the other day that she is turning 6 1/2 on her birthday! I think it's because she has been waiting since Kessa's birthday in October for it to finally be her birthday! Terra is such a fun little dolly. She loves to snuggle and cuddle and give "Papa Bear" hugs, as she calls them. She wants to do everything the older girls do and gets very upset when they don't let her. She has never been one to watch Cinderella or Sleeping Beauty, she wants to watch High School Musical and real people movies, just like the bigger kids. She and her best friend, Ella, can sing you just about any of their songs and tell you all about the teen stars! It's so funny to listen to them!

Terra is just about to finish Kindergarten and has loved school! She is doing so good learning to read, but I think the best thing about school for her is being with her friends. There are lots of fun kids in her class and a couple of cute little boys that love to chase and have already spoken for her and Ella to dance with in 3rd grade because they will get to hold hands!!! She is definately a little social butterfly! Terra also loves to draw and color and write us cute little love notes. She is always giving us a new picture to display on the fridge! She loves her "American Dolls" and polly pockets and her Webkins animals. She also loves her "Silky", what she calls, her silky blanky. Whenever it needs to be washed, she has to have Kannon's to sleep with, so we go dig it out of his closet.

Terra is also a really good helper. After every Cowboy Sleep, she folds up blankets and puts them away. She is great at helping unload the dishwasher and folding towels, too! She is actually a pretty neat kid, she likes to have things situated just right and does really good at organizing her things. She loves to help whenever we are cooking, too. She loves avocados and if anyone else wants some, you have to be quick or she will eat the whole thing! She is having a Razzleberry Pie for her Birthday cake this year. That's another thing that you have to be quick about or she will probably eat the whole thing herself, too! She asked my Mom just out of the blue one day why she hadn't made her a cherry pie, so she ate a whole can of pie filling instead!!!

Terra is playing T-Ball this Spring. It is so fun to watch them! She gets this big grin on her face when she gets up to bat or does something good! She is our sweet little Dolly and we love her so much! I don't think I will know what to do next year with her in school all day! We love you, Princess!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Dear Bro & Sis Rumsey and Bro & Sis Carlson,

Hello! My husband is the Bishop of the Katy 4^th ward here in Houston, TX where your sons are serving. We have had the privilege of working with them over the last few months. What stalwart young men they are! The more and more my husband and I and our family have spent time with them the more and more we realize how well they represent the gospel of Jesus Christ.

On several occasions they have come by our home during a stressful time (we have 11 children ages ranging from 20 to 2 so our home is often chaotic) and brought such a good spirit with them. They taught our family the first discussion with such sincerity and the Spirit that my children listened intently really feeling the truthfulness of the message. One evening they popped into have my husband sign something. Unfortunately, he was out town. But they saw some needy situations and stepped right in to help me out. Elder Carlson helped my son in kindergarten create a package that an egg would be protected in while falling off the roof without breaking. This assignment was due the very next day and I had not been able to find time to help him. Then Elder Rumsey did ALL my dishes even the pots and baking dishes. And Elder Carlson stepped in and wiped my table and chairs off. They helped me gather everyone for scripture study and then read the Book of Mormon with us. What would have been a very trying situation went so smoothly because of their Christ-like service and good spirit.

Perhaps the most impressive thing to me was that for a baptism they had for Sis Junge, they both got up and sang a duet, “I Love to Look for Rainbows.” The room was filled with the Spirit. And I wished that you all, their parents, could have seen them stand up and sing so beautifully.

They are like the sons of Helaman with a pure spirit and strong morals. I hope all of my sons may grow up like them and serve missions as faithfully as them. My daughter, who is a junior in high school, told me that they inspired her to think seriously of going on a mission. She recognized what a good Spirit they bring with them and commented on it a couple of times.

Interestingly enough the missionary work in our area has increased when they arrived into our area.

Thank you for sacrifice of sending your sons on a mission to bless the lives of both non-member and members alike. How much they have blessed our lives in just the short time we have known them.

Happy Birthday Andre!

Andre has always been such a great kid and tries to do the right thing. He is very knowledgeable and has always been a great student. He is hardworking, responsible, kind, considerate, respectful and has a great sense of humor. He is a great athlete and enjoys participating in football and track each year. Andre has high aspirations and is very dedicated to his success. He applied and was accepted to attend a week-long Summer Leaders Seminar this June at West Point Military Academy in New York. He is very excited to experience a taste of what it would be like to attend the Academy as his goal is to be accepted there. Andre is a natural leader and doesn't worry about what other kids think. He is one of few LDS kids at Columbus High School and is a great example to many students who look up to him because of his uncommon standards. He looks forward to serving a mission for the church in just a couple of years. Andre is not so wrapped up into girls yet but did attend the high school prom this year. He had a great time and looked so handsome in his tuxedo. We are so proud of him for his success and his great example. He has been such a blessing in our lives! We love you Andre!!! Andre with Connor - such a good brother! (Wait.... is he trying to smother Connor with a plastic bag?) Andre, I hope you have a great birthday. You've always been such a great kid and so much fun to be around. I'm so impressed with all of your accomplishments and I'm very proud of you.
