Hi everyone, Just wanted to let you know about our food assignments.  Brad is picking up meat and cheese and I am picking up everything else and we'll divide up some of the cost.  I'll need help cutting up tomatoes and onions that morning.  It starts at 10:00 and we'll probably eat at 12:30 (Utah Time).  I know it is early but Mom is usually worn out by afternoon.  Send a copy of this to any kids out of your house.  Love you, Mom

Dear Julie,  You are a Jewel, and a great Evans Blogger.  Do you know that you are making history for the Evans Family?  A lot of things get lost over the years and one of the things that you are doing, the family will look back and say Aunt Julie or "Snick" kept us up of what was going on in the Evans family, even if it was "good or Bad" and posterity will say Thanks for that Precious "Jewel".  Most of you will be around a lot longer than me.  You could say Grandma is over the hill, but I still enjoy what is going on with my Family.

Get with it some of you slackers, and make History!

To all of You,

         Hope I  know what I am doing. I am in hope's this goes to each of you individually.  I am getting LAZY along with my Age.  I am not with it in this techinal stuff.  But I wanted thank you along with your Mom for the subscription for Six month to Ancestry.com,  I still Love to play around at Genealogy, but I spend more time at Indexing for the church, I just turned over to 58,000 thousand names that I have indexed, I have been doing some of the 1940 Census records but I like some of the harder challenges of the records in England in the 1600 and 1700 hundreds.

        Wish some one would turn of the South Wind coming from down there,  And Suzy you can turn off the north Wind.  I try do do a few things out side, havent planted any flowers yet, its a good thing this morning I had a half dozen calves of Crea's prancing around my yard and even across the cement area in front of the house, He soon got it fixed.  I have looked at the Evans Blog lately of Julies little furniture Projects they were cute,  And Melissa's pictures of the boys playing ball. and little Meg she so cute.  What's going on with the rest of you??????

         Again My Thanks to all of you, I don't get to see you much but I do think of you and Pray for you all the time.

New Castle News

Dear Julie, I hear you are doing good since your surgery, that is good glad you had it done.

Tiffany had her baby Monday the 22nd, she weighed 7 lb 4oz, she has dark hair. they named her Katy Elenor, the Elenor comes from her dad's Grandmother. Linda and I took a meal in last evening, so we got to hold her.

. Brice who is Bretts son and Jack, Ryan and Melanie boy both have their Casts off now, they ar both walking good, but with a slight differemce.

Linda had Catarac surgery on her left eye on monday and got along fine, she will have the other one right away. she and Jim picked a few ears of corn yesterday, it is good.

Steve and the boys have their 3rd cutting of hay up and will get a 4th, Crea was fertilizing my west lawn this morning Deb stopped by she said she went on a 5 mile hiked yesterday with some young boys and the Bishop and his wife and said she was sore and not up to doing much today.

Summer is starting to come to a close the kids up here are in school, Deb said that Cash, Jared's son stared to school in Cedar this year 7th grade he is going to Mesquite tomorrow and play football - that will be a hot game.

I need to quit and get a shower and something to eat.

February Quick Trip

I am late putting this on the blog, but we were so excited to go down in February. We got to visit Grandma Christensen in New Castle, attended Paris & Christy's wedding in Parowan and then continued on to St. George and Logandale to visit a bunch of family. I know it was only for a short time, and I wish we could've spent more quality time with everyone, but we were glad to come anyway. Here are a few pictures from our trip.

Grandma was so sweet to have a nice big dinner ready for us when we got to her house after 15 hours of driving. It was so nice! These pictures were taken the next morning as we were getting ready for the wedding. Thanks for having us Grandma!After a nice wedding ceremony in the Old Rock Church in Parowan.

Paris & Christy live in Columbus and we do a lot together.

Last Saturday, June 26, 2010 we headed to Oak Grove past Leeds, Utah for the William Stirling Family Reunion. William is my great-great grandfather. It was great to see siblings, parents, cousins, uncles & aunts and of course Grandma C. with her sturdy little plaid cane. We played games, listened to stories and enjoyed a tasty lunch. The kids gathered up lots of candy being blasted out of a potato cannon. I didn't get any actual reunion photos, so if anyone has some, please share. Members of our immediate family who were there: Mom & Dad, Debbie, Chuck & Snick, Vicki & kids and Wayne's family.

One of the highlights of the reunion was Wayne...

boasting a tartan kilt while piping an array of delightful Scottish tunes!

Grandma called out "Wayne, what's under the kilt?"

and later tried to lift the kilt to attempt a peek.

NewCastle News

Crea and Ashley have been in Arizona for Christmas and aren't home yet, maybe they like the warm weather. It Is Crea's Birthday today 29 Dec. 2009. He is turning 31 years old today HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Crea, Love You. He is another great Grandson all of them are, he is always doing things for me.

Happy 84th Birthday Grandma Christensen!

Taken from Ashley Christensen's blog: "I got this picture off of Steve and Deb's camera so that is why the post is late. We made her blow out 84 candles on three birthday cakes...she got them all out but not before the smoke alarm went off! She is such a great Grandma and we love having her so close to us!".

Vicki - "I love Grandma very much. She is such a cute & funny Grandma. I'm also very amazed at how sharp she is. Just talking to her last week, she spouted off how old some of her great-grand kids were and when their birthdays are. She has always been such a sweet granny and I remember when I was a kid, how I always wanted to go stay at her house in the summer. My favorite was always her homemade popsicles made out of various juices. I hope you had a good birthday Grandma!!".

Debbie - "I always loved staying at Grandma & Grandpa's house in the summer. Grandma taught me to knit and crochet. She was very good to me when I stayed with her in New Castle when I worked at the greenhouses and went to SUU (SUSC back in the day). I remember when we were very young, she put a big piece of Bubble Yum in her mouth and when it was soft enough she blew a gigantic bubble which popped all over her face. Julie and I thought that was very cool. She has always been a cool Grandma! I am so glad I was able to see her again when she and Aunt Janice came down for Thanksgiving. I love her very much!".

Julie - "Grandma has always been very fun and has a cute sense of humor. She's a good sport and you can usually get her to pull a funny face or to stage a silly picture - I love the ones from a few months ago of her holding the gun and the guys holding a string of squirrels. I loved going to New Castle growing up and have so many fond memories of being in Grandma's home and on the farm.

I was especially impressed with Grandma a few years back when she wanted to go skydiving for her 80th birthday. Although she didn't get to go, I think she earned a whole new level of respect from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren just by showing her sense of daring and adventure.

As a kid I remember always thinking how IN LOVE grandpa and grandma were. Yesterday Brad recalled riding out to the farm with Grandma to take lunch to Grandpa. They sat under the shade of the tractor and told the kids to run to the edge of the field and back (probably so they could get a little smooching in!)".

Beverly - "I want to wish my mother a Happy Birthday! She is a wonderful Mom and I love her so much. She has always been a good example to me.

One of the memories I have of her is one year when I was a teenager and we were having a Halloween party in Mutual. In those days we could dress up and wear costumes at the church. Janice and Linda and I went to the party and were having fun. After we had been there for a while, someone with and ugly scary mask and old clothes with a hunchback (As I remember) came in and no one knew who it was. Every now and then this guy would sneak up on us and scared us and pretty much gave us all the creeps. At the end of the party all the masks came off and that ugly old guy was - - Mom. We were as surprised as everyone else was and she got a prize for her costume.

As I have scanned Aunt Florence's photo albums, I have come across a lot of pictures of her when she was young and she always seemed to be having fun. Here are just a few".

New Castle News

This morning I am taking it easy, so I got on the E-mail site and brought up the Evans Blog. And I seen a note you had to send something about Cynthia and I thought I need to E-Mail something. Late Happy Birthday Cynthia. She is a special Granddaughter in-law for me. She has been the best thing that ever happened for Kevin and I think it was Love at first site for those two and he is a special Grandson. I had to look back and find that it has been 15 years that they have been together, they have a great family.

The 27 of Oct was a Special day for me, as it was 65 years ago that Russell and I were married. I spent the whole day canning 5 1/2 Quarts of applesauce, I am getting slower every day. But there is another story of the apples they were too small to use my apple peeler. Linda called me as I had finished up to say she had remembered my Anniversary, she asked what I was going to do now and I said rest, so I watched Dancing with the Stars later. Sorry Cynthia this was just not about you, but Love you.

Grandma & the gun: The true story!

Dear Julie,

You need to put in the Blog the true story of me sitting on the couch, and shooting Kyle's 22 gun. That morning Steve, Kyle and Crea moved all of my STUFF out of the living room and dining room, as I was getting the carpets cleaned when they got the couches outside Steve said we need to get that old Computer of mine out here and let grandma shoot the hard drive, as it has got some important information on it we don't want any one else to have. Then he said I have got to go get my camera, all the while Kyle and Crea were having a hoot. They had me sit on the couch, Crea gave me his Mountain Dew and Kyle gave me the gun and said you have got to do it. I used the cane to hold the gun steady so I could get the cross hairs right on the hard drive. I done it once then Kyle said repeat it twice more one right after the other, and Steve was shooting the pictures. That is the true story. And about the squirrells, Crea couldn't get a deer with his powder gun hunt so they went Squirrell hunting. I was happy.

Gun-Totin' Squirrel-Killin' Granny!

These pictures are so funny... I just had to put them on our blog for future generations. I stole them off Ashley & Tiffany's blogs (thanks girls, for the good laugh!)

Ashley Christensen: We have one amazing grandma here in Newcastle. She was having her carpets cleaned yesterday so the guys moved her couches outside. They thought it would be funny to stage this picture! Notice the Mt Dew and the gun resting on her cane!! She is such a good sport.

Tiffany Christensen: Grandma Katherine called Kyle the other day and said she could hear things under her house. So Kyle and Crea discovered that it was squirrels. So they have been trapping them and today they drowned out 10 from a pipe. EEWW! I don't like those little rodents, and Grandma was even happier they are no longer under her house! Kyle and Crea are quite the squirrel hunters. And you don't even need a permit! HaHa. They were pretty proud of their string of squirrels.

Sent by Grandma Christensen Thursday, August 27th:

Monday I needed to do some laundry and Tiffany and I hadn't got our visiting teaching done. I stopped by her place later in the morning as she was to make arrangements with the ladies we go to she said I will call right now, so we went later that afternoon. It was a good thing as the next morning the bunch done corn, they have quite a process Steve and Deb went out and picked at 6:00 AM and Crea ad Kyle came and they got it shucked and and Deb and Steve had gotten it washed and then Crea and Kyle started cooking it they use these Burners outside. I went over about 8 and started cutting it off. Ashley, Melanie and Tiffany came a little later and we were through by 10:00 A.M.

Last Saturday I made a batch of Strawberry and Rhubarb jam, It was the cooked kind I was proud of myself, but was tired when I got finished and yesterday I had to do some watering of flowers, and some dry spots in the lawn. And I hauled several little wagons of dirt to fill in some low spots in the back yard. I have the system of pulling the wagon with my little jassy, I don't know what I would do without that, it had belonged to Melanie's grandfather, I have had it for about 5 years.

Steve is bringing Deb, Me and maybe Janice down for Lyla Rose's Blessing. We will be just going down for that day. Yesterday Linda came down and I was at the Computer, and I said I should be up cleaning up my kitchen and office. So after she left I did get some done but I need to do more here in the office. I have some young Women coming Tuesday evening to show them about the church Indexing program. I have been doing some lately of England Parishes of Ptp. Burials, Marr. in the 1668 and 1700's. They haven't been too bad a few of the letters get me stumped.

I must close see you this weekend, it was good to hear from you. Love Grandma Christensen

How are things going for you, I loved the quilt you made and put on the Blog. And I did get an Evans Newsletter from your mom about a week ago. I have wondered how the trip to LA went for Kevin? I haven't heard anything.

Last week Steve and Deb took their trailer up on Cedar Mountain at Duck Creek. This was monday after their Chamberlain Renunion on Beaver Monntian, Steve said she (Deb) had to get camping out of her system. He would come back every morning to check on water. Friday just before noon I went back up with him, Janice came up and brought Rebecca's 3 oldest kids, it was realy nice up there and there were a lot of campers, thats why Deb left early monday morning to get a good spot.

So that was my 4th of July outing, it was cool and those kids had a ball chasing out in the forest, Janice brought me back that afternoon, then went on home. Steve and Deb pulled the trailer back home Saturday so they would be here for Sunday, then he and Crea started cutting their second crop of Hay on Monday.

It really hasn't gotten to hot here yet, I think it got to 90 degrees yesterday. Has Chuck found work yet? Hope so. It sounds as if more of the family are gone right now beside your Mom and Dad.

I started out early this morning to spray wild morning glory with Roundup, but my jassie was slow and needed recharging.

Well I will close and do some Indexing or searching genealogy records.

New Castle News

I e-mailed Grandma earlier in the week asking if there was any exciting news to share. I got the following information from Grandma & Aunt Linda yesterday:

Cheri and Justin had their little boy last night by C-Section. Deb left yesterday morning at 8:30 A.M. and got there (Sacramento, CA) at 6:30 P.M. Cheri had contractions throughout the night Thursday and was at the hospital when Deb got there. Deb went straight to their home where Avery was being tended by a neighbor. Brighton (I don't know if this is the way it is spelled) was in distress so they took him by C-section.

Jim, Ryan, Crea and Jessica spent time with the YW/YM Trek. Bishop Shill is co owner with the RCA which works with troubled youth. They packed 4 handcarts out at his base camp and they were traveling 4 miles/day. Activities included a raid party by a mob (they confiscated all the goodies), a mail delivery by the Pony Express, a delivery of buffalo jerky by a couple who raise buffalo. The men and boys were called to go on with the Mormon Battalion leaving the YW to push and pull a steep mountain. (Angels came to their assistance as was needed). The trek was ending today with a nice dinner, square dancing and a testimony meeting. Right now though it has been raining here and the mountains where they are are very black. I know some adults that will be glad not to sleep on the ground tonight!

By the way, we need your dad to make a trip up and sit in the cemetery shooting the D........chislers. He would need to stay for sometime though. Perhaps we could round up a revolving recliner for him.

Way to Go on the Harley Ride! You have a lot more nerve than Grandma or I. Grandma said, "You could ride her old bike while Chuck rides his Harley!”

I just spoke with Grandma on the phone a while ago. She mentioned that Steve, Deb, Kyle & Crea have been working on putting up a big new barn that she calls the "Million Dollar Barn".

Grandma also figured out that with the birth of Cheri's new baby she now has 64 great-grandchildren! With Natalie and Melanie both expecting this summer, it will soon be 66. That's quite a posterity! Thanks for the update, Grandma... we love you!
