Denver's Eagle Project

Local Boy Scout Seeks Help On Health Fair Project

A local Boy Scout is asking for help from the community in completing his Eagle Project on Saturday, May 9. Denver Conger of Logandale is organizing a community health fair and blood drive which has turned out to be a major undertaking.
“When choosing my Eagle project I decided I wanted to do something different from everybody else,” Conger said. “I really felt that doing a blood drive and a health fair would make an impact on our community.”
Conger is currently working with the Red Cross in setting up appointments for blood donations and has set a goal to collect 65 units of blood.
While the blood drive is going on, Conger is also organizing a health fair to provide information to the community. He hopes to have health professionals from the Moapa Valley community and surrounding areas come and provide informational booths at the Health Fair. But Conger said that he has a ways to go before he has the number of exhibitors that he had envisioned.
“I was hoping for about 20 booths at the health fair, but I have not received as much of a response as I would have liked,” he said. “I really need the community to step up and volunteer to be a part of this project. Without them, it will not be successful.”
Conger said that he envisions possible health screenings providing immediate solutions for attendees as well as displays which aim to teach the whole family.
“I am encouraging exhibitors to teach interactively, and pass out brochures, pamphlets, and even small samples,” he said.
Conger will be providing punch cards for all attendees. Those who participate can fill the punch cards by visiting each of the booths. If they do they will be entered into a drawing to win prizes donated by local businesses.
“I already have gift cards to Lin’s Market as prizes,” Conger said. “But I am looking for more donations for prizes as well.”
Conger intends for the event to be appropriate to bring the whole family.
“For those that would like to bring their children to the Health Fair that will be fine,” he said. “I will be setting up on-site babysitting so that moms and dads can give blood also.”
The Health Fair and Blood Drive will be held on Saturday, May 9 at the LDS Logandale Stake Center at 2555 St. Joseph Street in Logandale. All are welcome.
The blood drive will be from 10 am to 3 pm. The Health Fair will be presented from 10 am to noon.
Those interested in running a booth at the Health Fair, or those who would like to set an appointment to donate blood, may call Conger at 702-398-7302 or by email at denmann99@gmail.com. The project has also been posted to www.justserve.org where additional information can be obtained and volunteers can sign up.

Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa Evans'

In the midst of all the chaos I didn't get as many pictures as I would have liked.  So, if anyone has more to share post them, or send them to me!

Brad narrated the nativity and Kannon accompanied him on the guitar.

The grand finale!

We were glad Grandma Christensen could come!

Happy Birthday Denver!

by Vicki Conger

Denver is a naughty boy. He likes to get into trouble and choose the wrong. SIKE!! OK, let me start over. Denver is a good boy and he is pretty good about doing what he is asked in a timely manner. Usually the only time he gets in trouble is when he doesn't think something through before doing it. It's nice having him around because he is a great helper to me. He helps me a lot with the little boys and when we're out and about without Shane, he'll take one of them for me. He is becoming more and more responsible (and independent) every day. He's looking forward to when he can babysit for longer periods of time and so am I!!

Denver has a fun personality and makes friends easily. There are always kids at the door looking for him and enjoy being around him because he is pretty easy goin'. He is also a talker (I wonder where he got that from?). Hopefully that won't get him in trouble at school. Speaking of school, Denver is a good student and gets good grades. He has the capability of getting straight A's, but he likes to hurry through his work, so he has time to chat or play. I'm always amazed at some of the things he has stored in that brain of his. He really is like a sponge. He is pretty excited to go to Junior High this year. He decided he is going to play the Bass in orchestra this year. I'm excited to see how well he does with that.

Denver is getting pretty tall for his age and also very good looking. Seems like the girls his age (and some older) are starting to realize that. If you combine his good looks with his personality, I think he's going to make a great catch.

Denver still likes to cook and likes to help me cook or bake things. He's getting pretty good at it, if he can just make sure he reads the recipes right. Some of his other likes are: camping, fishing, making lego structures, watching movies and TV, and playing video games (he's really into the Wii Lego games).

We love that boy and we enjoy having him in the family!

Happy Birthday Denver!

by Vicki Conger
I can't believe Denver is already 10! It's amazing how quickly the years have gone by and how much he has grown! He's so tall now, so it's hard to imagine him at 3 lb. 10 oz. ! Sometimes I have to look at his pictures just to remind myself of how little he was! Denver is getting to be such a smart boy. I thinks he has a brain like Shane's and he retains a lot of information. Even his primary teacher, Bro. Hardy, has commented on how Denver knows all the answers in primary. There is something to that brain of his, because he also a great memory. In fact, he always brings up things that happened years ago that everyone else has forgotten.

Denver is fun loving and gets along with everyone he meets (except Evan) and he has tons of friends at school. He is also very funny and has a quick wit. He just has a great personality that is hard to dislike!

This is a pose he manufactured at the Museum of Ancient Life, what a silly boy!Denver is getting to be quite responsible and likes being "in charge". He helps me with Grant all the time! I feel comfortable leaving Grant with him while I run to the mail or to do a quick errand. He wants to babysit for longer, but I think I'll wait a few more years!

He has mentioned that he wants to be either a pilot or a chef when he grows up. The boy loves to cook! He makes eggs for breakfast all the time, many desserts, and has even made us dinner several times (including spaghetti & meatballs and homemade pizza) by himself!

Some of his likes are: cooking, video games, building forts, shooting, camping, fishing, swimming, and country music (especially John Denver)

Denver is such a sweet boy and isn't afraid to give us hugs or say "I love You". We are so glad that he is part of our family!!!
