Thanks, Melissa, for telling me about Bountiful Baskets!! I got my first basket this week and I'm so excited!
Here's what I got this week for just $15
Bountiful Baskets is a food co-op offering high quality, low-cost produce on a weekly basis. Participating states include: Nevada, Utah, Montana and Texas! Most items are grown as locally as possible and items such as bananas and pineapples come from small farmers in Mexico. You make a $15 "contribution" during the week online by credit card and then pick up your basket on Saturday at a designated location which is usually a park, school or some type of community area. You bring your own box, basket or bags to transfer all of your produce into to take home.
All baskets are the same (you don't get to choose what you take home) and items change week to week based on what's in season and what they can find at great prices. When ordering your basket you can usually choose from a few other "offerings" to purchase such as 9-grain bread, tortillas, etc. Your very first time, you will have to pay an additional $3 basket charge. You don't have to order every week.... only when you want to.
Las Vegas has several locations, Logandale's pick-up site is at Grant Bowler Elementary School and Montana has a pick-up site in Billings on Broadwater Ave.
