Happy Birthday Andre!

by Suzy Solomon

Andre has always been such a great kid and tries to do the right thing. He is very knowledgeable and has always been a great student. He is hardworking, responsible, kind, considerate, respectful and has a great sense of humor. He is a great athlete and enjoys participating in football and track each year.

Andre has high aspirations and is very dedicated to his success. He applied and was accepted to attend a week-long Summer Leaders Seminar this June at West Point Military Academy in New York. He is very excited to experience a taste of what it would be like to attend the Academy as his goal is to be accepted there.

Andre is a natural leader and doesn't worry about what other kids think. He is one of few LDS kids at Columbus High School and is a great example to many students who look up to him because of his uncommon standards. He looks forward to serving a mission for the church in just a couple of years.

Andre is not so wrapped up into girls yet but did attend the high school prom this year. He had a great time and looked so handsome in his tuxedo. We are so proud of him for his success and his great example. He has been such a blessing in our lives! We love you Andre!!!

Andre with Connor - such a good brother!
(Wait.... is he trying to smother Connor with a plastic bag?)

Andre, I hope you have a great birthday. You've always been such a great kid and so much fun to be around. I'm so impressed with all of your accomplishments and I'm very proud of you. I scanned some of my scrapbook pages from when you were little, so I hope you enjoy looking at them.

ISN'T SHE LOVELY!

Carissa Carlson went to the Durango High School Senior Prom with her friend Mike Jensen. Her beautiful blue dress is one she purchased after modeling it and several others for a Stake fashion show wearing modest gowns. After Mike came to pick her up we took photos and they went to his house so that his mom could see Carissa's dress. Then they went to dinner with six other couples at the Palazzo - Del Toro. Carissa ate ravioli with asparagus cream sauce.  Group pictures were taken after dinner and then they attended the prom from 7:30 until 10:00 PM.

After the dance, they went Cosmic Bowling at the Red Rock in their prom attire!  Unfortunately they didn't get any photos. I would love to see Carissa in her princess dress with bowling shoes. She mentioned that her newly manicured nails even glowed in the dark. After bowling, they went to a sushi bar at midnight.

Carissa wore her prom dress to church on Sunday and had to go up in Sacrament Meeting to play for the primary to sing for Mother's Day.  She said that she heard some of the little primary girls in church say "Look, there's a princess!".

Making her way down the staircase...

Mike is stunned by the beautiful Carissa!
