Sister Alex Solomon

Okay so this was kind of an amazing week and there's so much to tell.I only hope that my fingers can keep up with my thoughts!

Last Monday night, we attended Sister Young's funeral which was very sad. Honestly, it was just kind of upsetting because we got to the viewing and then we found out that the family changed their minds and were not allowing "any Mormons" to hold a service for her. All I could think about was how disrespectful that was to her wishes but at least we still got to hand out jelly beans to kids and they sang Primary songs. Mom, I just want you to know, if you decide to convert to Catholicism or something later in life, I will gladly attend your Catholic funeral. That was weird. I didn't mean 'gladly' as in 'I'm glad that you're going to die'. You know what I meant. (Yeesh, when will I learn to speak?)

We got to take our Christmas trip to see the Mesa temple lights! It was like a mini, warm, temple square-esque experience. It was just really cool because a whole third of our mission got on a bus that
morning and went to Mesa where we went through the visitors center, did a session in the temple with each other, went out to dinner, and then got to walk around at the lights. It was kind of a nice field trip/day off. One of the best parts was that I got to give President Griffin a hug inside the temple. I can honestly say that was probably one of the best hugs of my life.  Anyway, we got to bond a lot with our zone and actually just hang out together which was great!
Chillin with our posse at the back of the bus (where all the cool kids sit)

Our lesbian friends got married this week! I was actually sad that I couldn't go but also glad that I had an excuse not to go....I don't know. CONFLICTING EMOTIONS.

We attended a stake production of Handel's Messiah which was pretty darn magnificent. I had goosebumps the whole time but especially during the part where they sing "For unto us a child is born (unto us a child is born) and his name shall be called....WONDERFUL....COUNSELLOR...the mighty GOD....the everLASTING FATHER...the PRINCE of PEACE". It's definitely not as good in an email...a bunch of the elders were there though and we were talking to them afterward and something so dumb happened. I was talking to Elder Price (who is known for having no tact whatsoever) and I said something about how I wanted to know which elders were going home at the same time as me since it won't be the same ones who came out with me and he said, "Why? So you can find them and marry one of them? Are you writing anyone? Do boys even like you?" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Like, what? Why would you say that? I was laughing so hard so I said
something like, "uh, does anyone even like you?" And then we laughed and that was it. It was just so funny to me because sometimes I forget that most of the elders just graduated from high school and don't know how to talk to people. ESPECIALLY sisters.

I saw a picture on Facebook this week of my old MTC zone leader (who is currently serving in the Montana Billings Mission, and who writes me EVERY week) and he is companions with an Elder KC Evans! Weird! I might actually email him this week and tell him his companion is my cousin.

Anyway, it has been another one of those amazing weeks where things are starting to happen for us again.  I have noticed a trend in this area. We work really really hard for a couple of months and nothing happens. Then, out of nowhere, we have a week where 3-5 new investigators just fall into our laps. This was finally one of those great weeks! We didn't even have to do anything and these people were just handed to us. I just think it's cool that even though we are working on one aspect of things, results happen in a completely different spot and time than we expect. It really is a testimony to me
of how Heavenly Father gets his work done here. It's a great reminder that I am not in charge.

MERRY CHRISTMAS! I'm so excited to talk to you soon!
